Claim: 99% of hospitalizations are of people who are un-vaccinated.
Recently, we’ve seen a barrage of articles from mainstream media claiming that most people who are in the hospital with Covid are those who have not received the experimental Covid vaccines. Many of these articles are simply parroting a report from the Associated Press that contained misinformation.
USA Today, is one of them. On June 25, they published an article, which they picked up from Healthday News, titled, “99% of New U.S. COVID Hospitalizations, Deaths Occurring Among the Unvaccinated.” The article cites “an Associated Press analysis of May data from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.”
Unfortunately, the AP has not made the details of this “analysis” available to the public, so to fact check, one must go directly to the CDC website to find out about new hospitalizations. Interestingly, the CDC does not track whether hospitalized people are vaccinated. In none of the three Covid-19 case surveillance datasets is vaccination status listed as information to be collected. And on the Covid19 Case report form that hospitals use to report Covid cases, there is no place to declare whether or not the patient has been “vaccinated.”
The USA Today article admits as much. The CDC has yet to estimate rates of hospitalizations and deaths among fully vaccinated people.
Citing limitations in the data, the CDC hasn’t estimated rates of hospitalizations and deaths among fully vaccinated people, but the findings of the data analysis reflect what’s being said by many health officials and experts, according to the AP.

On May 1, 2021, the CDC actually stopped monitoring asymptomatic and mild cases in fully vaccinated individuals “to focus only on hospitalized and fatal cases.” So they said. In effect, this decision has contributed to a skewing of the numbers so that it appears the vaccines are working better than they are. Nevertheless, “as of 28 June 2021, 4,427 patients with COVID-19 vaccine breakthrough infections were hospitalized, and 879 died” (Source).
Though the AP analysis itself is not available, I did find a story by the Associated Press citing its own analysis (how cute). As it turns out, the AP story had many holes to begin with.
When it was first published on June 24, 2021, it said that the number of hospital admissions was 853,000, and the percentage of hospitalized people who had been vaccinated was 0.1%. Just five days later, when other outlets like USA Today had picked up on it and written their stories, the AP corrected its numbers. It just so happens that there had been only 107,000 people in the hospital with Covid when AP did its analysis, not 853,000. How did they make such a huge mistake? Who knows. It’s not like the AP has been reliable since, ever.
The real question is why hasn’t USA Today, among others, corrected their stories? You will still find the inaccurate numbers in numerous articles including healthday.com, medicinenet.com, Physicians Weekly, and more.

If the CDC does not track the number of vaccinated people who are hospitalized with Covid, then obviously 99% of the cases will be unvaccinated. The number means absolutely nothing.
But the media will continue to lie about the unvaccinated being the cause of the new pandemic. This despite the fact that according to the CDC, in a recent outbreak in Barnstable County, Massachusetts, 80% of the hospitalized were vaccinated:
Approximately three quarters (346; 74%) of cases occurred in fully vaccinated persons (those who had completed a 2-dose course of mRNA vaccine [Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna] or had received a single dose of Janssen [Johnson & Johnson] vaccine ≥14 days before exposure)….Overall, 274 (79%) vaccinated patients with breakthrough infection were symptomatic. Among five COVID-19 patients who were hospitalized, four were fully vaccinated; no deaths were reported….One hospitalized patient (age range = 50–59 years) was not vaccinated and had multiple underlying medical conditions. Four additional, fully vaccinated patients aged 20–70 years were also hospitalized, two of whom had underlying medical conditions.

Looks like vaccinated people may be more at risk of the Delta variant than unvaccinated.
Here’s something worth talking about: Most COVID-19 hospitalizations in the U.S. can be attributed to just four conditions: obesity, diabetes, hypertension, and heart failure.
A study estimated that nearly two-thirds of COVID-19 hospitalizations in the U.S. could be attributed to obesity, diabetes, hypertension, and heart failure…In total, 64% of the hospitalizations might have been prevented if not for the four conditions.

If you have one of these conditions, you might be justified in taking the jabs.
The flawed AP story that so many media outlets relied on does at least make one true statement. “Deaths from Covid are now down to under 300” per day. That is well below the rate required to call this an epidemic, much less a pandemic.
It’s clear to me that we no longer have a pandemic from Covid. The real pandemic is the pandemic of lies being spread carelessly by our media. Lies are very contagious and the only inoculation is good information and an ability to discern the truth.
