Mr. Tomelli

Shelly used to eat toast and jelly,
Till her belly
got big.

So she saw her friend named Mr. Tomelli
who ordered her to stop
eating toast and jelly.

What’s the moral of this story?
Don’t ask advice from Mr. Tomelli.

Because he failed to realize
Shelly also ate other things

like

hamburgers and fries
pork ribs and thighs
chicken and dumplings
and a number of other things.

For dessert she had cake and
–well, no never snake–
but she loved to eat banana splits.
So as to her belly, that’s probably what caused it.

  1. She blamed it all on toast and jelly,
But truth be told, it wasn’t her belly’s only deli.
She snacked at midnight, she munched at dawn,
She once ate half a three-foot prawn.
She chewed through casseroles with cream,
She licked the bowl of her buttered dream.
So let’s be fair, and let’s be wise:
It wasn’t just toast that made her rise.
But Tomelli, bless him, missed the mark—
He blamed the bread, not the full food arc.
The moral here, if morals stick:
    Don’t fight the smoke—go fix what’s thick.

      1. Haha, thanks RL!
If Dr. Seuss saw us scribbling from the cocklebur patch,
He’d tip his striped hat, give his whiskers a scratch,
Take a sip of his green egg brew,
And say, “These two rhyme better than a Sneetch crew!”
So let’s keep rolling these rhymes nonstop,
Till the whole crowd begs us—
        “Please… PLEASE… make it stop!”

      2. You may be on to something, there Mr. Mckenzie,
The world, being in in such a terrible frenzy
        could use, nay, may need
        such silly rhyming indeed!
So continue on and rhyme away
And turn tomorrow into a better day.
